But can the average person enjoy these advancements? Well, it depends: Cosmetic procedures — such as whitening, veneers, and gum shaping — are [not typically](https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/111615/does-dental-insurance-cover-teeth-whitening.asp#:~:text=Most%20dental%20insurance%20policies%20do%20not%20cover%20any%20costs%20for,for%20entirely%20by%20the%20patient.) covered by insurance, so it depends on what they can afford out-of-pocket.  But many dentists are using digital scans over traditional impressions.
